Hey, I’m Kyle Brigham, Chief Strategy Officer at Marcel Digital. Launching a new website is exciting, but it’s easy to make critical mistakes that can lead to poor performance. Today we’re going to explore 5 common mistakes to avoid.

First, no analytics. Without proper tools like Google Analytics and Search Console, you can’t measure what’s working and what isn’t. It’s important to set up comprehensive tracking to help you make informed decisions and to ensure that the site you built is the site that customers want.

Second, poor SEO. You could have the best-looking website in the world, but it won’t do anything for you if no one can find it. SEO needs to be baked into your website from the start—focus on URL structure, content quality, and technical aspects like proper redirects and site speed to ensure your site is optimized for search engines. Give your team the tools they need to address SEO best practices and keep your site search engine friendly.

Third, difficult-to-find conversion actions. Users should never struggle to find ways to engage with your business. Make sure your contact info is visible in key areas like the header, footer, and navigation, and don’t shy away from clear calls to action on every page of your website. Contextual calls to action in content can be a great way to capture a user’s attention as they browse your website.

Fourth, slow page speed and poor mobile experience. Users are impatient, and slow websites lose conversions fast. Most modern internet users access websites through their phones, so mobile-friendliness is a must. Plus, Google prioritizes speed and mobile-friendliness in its rankings, so make sure your site loads quickly and performs well on all devices.

Fifth, overlooking UX and user research. Your site isn’t just for you; it’s for your customers. Design with their needs in mind. Use data-driven insights and real user feedback to inform your decisions. When UX best practices are applied appropriately, conversion rates can soar.

If you want to ensure a successful website launch, consider partnering with an agency like Marcel Digital that can guide you through these challenges, from analytics to SEO to UX, and more. Thanks for watching!
