This year’s Codegarden conference in Odense, Denmark was nothing short of extraordinary and Marcel Digital had reason to celebrate in a big way. Two of our own, Kyle Brigham and Alex Vilmur, were officially recognized as Umbraco MVPs, solidifying their place among the most impactful contributors in the global Umbraco community.
Umbraco MVP Honors: A Proud Milestone
Being recognized as Umbraco MVPs is no small feat. The Umbraco MVP program honors individuals who go above and beyond in their contributions to the Umbraco community, whether through code, community involvement, knowledge sharing, or advocacy. Kyle and Alex exemplify this spirit through their ongoing leadership, innovative development work, and dedication to the open-source community.
Their recognition at Codegarden highlights not just their individual expertise, but also Marcel Digital’s long-standing commitment to excellence in Umbraco development and partnership. We’re proud to have multiple MVPs on our team, and we’re especially thrilled to see Kyle and Alex’s hard work celebrated on an international stage.
What is Codegarden?
For those unfamiliar, Codegarden is the largest international Umbraco conference, bringing together developers, marketers, designers, and digital professionals from all over the world. It’s a celebration of the Umbraco CMS, filled with product announcements, training sessions, community stories, and plenty of networking opportunities.
This year’s conference featured insightful keynotes, sneak peeks into the future of Umbraco, and deep technical sessions covering everything from composable digital architectures to accessibility best practices.
Representing Marcel Digital on the Global Stage
Kyle and Alex didn’t just attend - they engaged, contributed, and connected with fellow MVPs, developers, and Umbraco HQ. Whether it was participating in discussions on Umbraco Cloud, exploring the latest in headless CMS integration, or celebrating community milestones, they were immersed in all that Codegarden had to offer.
Their presence underscored Marcel Digital’s position as a trusted, expert-level Umbraco Platinum Partner. It also helped bring back valuable insights to further evolve our internal processes and elevate the work we deliver to clients.

What Were Some of the Key Takeaways?
While there was plenty to get excited about Codegarden this year, here are a handful of updates of note:
- AI was a primary theme as it continues to make its way into our daily lives; there were a number of examples of AI being used in innovative ways to expand the functionality and power of Umbraco (including finding bugs, improving speed, and automatically handling translations)
- Umbraco Cloud continues to get more powerful and flexible, offering users more options for scalability and support
- Umbraco Compose was announced as a new service to orchestrate multiple data sources into a centralized location - it is not fully released yet, but there is a lot of opportunity and the future is bright
- Umbraco Engage has outperformed expectations as it continues to grow as a valuable marketing and testing tool for Umbraco websites (with hints of new features for future releases)
Looking Ahead
Umbraco 17 is fast approaching as the LTS release is scheduled for launch in November. Innovative integrations with AI will continue to make lives easier and extend the power and flexibility of Umbraco, and Umbraco products are sure to improve with new features through the end of the year.
We’re also incredibly proud of Kyle and Alex for their MVP status and the impact they continue to make. Their recognition is well-earned and reflective of the passion that Marcel Digital has to help support and grow the Umbraco community.
