What is a Digital Experience Platform (DXP)?

Transcript

Hey everyone, Kyle here at Marcel Digital. Are you familiar with the term DXP? How about composable DXP? Today, we're going to discuss both and why they're important to understand for your organization.

To start, what is a DXP? A DXP is a Digital Experience Platform. It's a software solution that helps organizations create and manage digital experiences. It provides a suite of tools and capabilities to deliver, optimize, and personalize digital content across various channels such as websites, mobile apps, social media, and more. A DXP is an all-encompassing technology that  typically includes features like content management, customer data management, e-commerce functionality, marketing automation, personalization, analytics, and integration capabilities. A DXP aims to provide an all-in-one seamless experience across multiple touchpoints, enabling organizations to engage and interact with their target audience effectively.

Now, a composable DXP, on the other hand, takes the concept of a DXP a step further by emphasizing modularity, flexibility, and interoperability. A composable DXP is built on a modular architecture that allows organizations to assemble and integrate different best-of-breed services and capabilities to create a customized digital experience solution. Unlike traditional DXPs that offer an all-in-one suite of features, a composable DXP takes a more modular approach where organizations can select and combine specific services or capabilities from various technologies or open-source solutions. For example, with a composable DXP, you can utilize your favorite CMS like Umbraco, a marketing automation platform like Marketo, and a best-in-breed e-commerce solution like Ucommerce to build a DXP that is customized to your organization versus using an all-in-one system. This approach enables greater flexibility and agility in building and evolving digital experiences. Organizations can choose the components that best fit their needs, swap out or update individual components without disrupting the entire system, and leverage existing investments in technology.

DXPs can be great if you're looking for an all-in-one solution that offers a lot of technology in one package. Composable DXPs are great if you plan on utilizing a number of different platforms to create optimal digital experiences. Thanks for watching, and best of luck creating your own incredible digital experiences.
